Established on January 5, 1957, Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Toyoda (Thailand) Co., Ltd. named of company at that time, the original purpose of the company was importing consumer goods, industrial machinery and tires from Japan. The company’s first head office was located on the corner of Patpong and Silom Roads, at the centre of Bangkok’s newly emerging international business community. Corporate employees initially numbered 27 persons, with work divided among four sections, namely Toyota Forklift, Sanyo, Suzuki and General Merchandise.

In 1969, corporate sales had reached 80 Million Baht. To accommodate further expansion, the company began to establish new firms based on former corporate sections. In 1980, the year in which the company’s present head office on Asoke-Dindaeng Road was built, corporate staff amounted to 115 persons and total sales reached 680 Million Baht.

In 1983, the company’s Suzuki section was spun off to form a separate firm in which the company still held shares.

On July 30, 1987, Toyoda (Thailand) Co., Ltd. changed its name one more time to Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) Co., Ltd. which accorded with the Japanese parent company’s desire to have a single corporate identity throughout the world.
