Overview of the EZ

Thai Binh Economic Zone (EZ) is a coastal one, with a natural area of 30,583 hectares comprising 30 communes, one town in Thai Thuy district, Tien Hai district and the adjacent coastal area. The boundary is determined as follows:
- Bordering with Hai Phong City to the North through the Hoa River
- Bordering with Nam Dinh province to the South and Southwest with the Red River.
- The East borders the East Sea with more than 50 km of coastline.
- The West borders the remaining communes of Thai Thuy and Tien Hai districts.

 The functional zones in Thai Binh EZ include Thai Binh Electricity Center, industrial parks, port and port services, tourist and entertainment resorts, aquaculture and coastal protection forests, residential area, and administrative area.

 The development goals of Thai Binh EZ focus on unlocking labor potential, land fund, electricity power and natural gas to become a multidisciplinary economic zone and commercial links with the Red River delta and other parts of the country.

 Environmental-friendly industries will be developed in the economic zone, including key industries of high-tech industry, manufacturing, automobile and motorbike production and assembly, garment, gas exploitation and processing, harbor logistic service, agricultural and aquaculture processing, food, beverage, health equipment, pharmacy, rubber and plastic products, building material and other commodities.

 According to the report of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, so far, 16 coastal economic zones have been established with a total area of 815 thousand hectares. By 2020, economic zones are expected to attract around 1,500-2,000 projects, 60% of which are foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of US$70-80 billion.

- Make the most of the advantages of natural conditions and location in connecting economy, trade and services with neighboring areas, developing economy with the assurance of national defense, security, conservation and promote the value of marine ecosystems, historical and cultural relics in the region.

Electricity supply:
- Forecast of required additional charge to 2025 is about 369MW; by 2040 around 1,200MW.
- Thai Binh Thermal Power Center (My Loc Commune, Thai Thuy District) with a total capacity of 1,800MW including 02 factories: Thai Binh 1 Thermal Power Plant, 600MW and Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant, capacity 1,200MW. Water supply:

- Water sources and key works:
+ Water sources used for Thai Binh Economic Zone are mainly surface water of Thai Binh, Diem Ho, Tra Ly and Red Rivers.

+ Renovating and raising the capacity of existing water plants; to build new water plants of Thuy Tan, Thai Nguyen, Tra Ly and the Red River with a capacity of 10,000 m3 / day ÷ 90,000 m3 / day and night.
- Building a closed loop pipe network in each zone and regulating the flow and pressure through the transmission network between water plants.
- Using the fire fighting water supply network together with the water supply network of the whole economic zone. Arranging fire hydrants ensures a safe distance according to regulations. Waste water drainage, solid waste management and cemeteries:

- Planning of cemeteries: For existing cemeteries and cemeteries with insufficient hygienic distance, they shall not be expanded, closed or closed. The whole economic zone uses 02 cemeteries focusing on new construction: 01 cemetery in Thai Thuy district, 01 cemetery in Tien Hai district.

a) Organization of functional areas in economic zones:
- Thai Binh Electricity Center, including:
